Share the Joy of Flying

Being a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) is an awesome responsibility. The way you teach (or fail to teach) student pilots may affect their desire to continue training and may determine the outcome of an emergency years later. We’ll make sure you’re ready!

Instead of memorizing just enough to pass the CFI/FOI written tests, your CFI training at Sierra Charlie Aviation will provide you with the tools you need to become a proficient flight instructor and show you how to communicate and build relationships with your students.

Program Requirements

In order to start on your Certified Flight Instructor program, you’ll need to meet these requirements:

  • Valid FAA medical certificate
  • Passed Flight Instructor Airplane (FIA)
  • Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) written knowledge tests
  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Instrument Rating (IFR)

Train the Next Generation of Pilots

Successful completion of this Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) course will qualify you to instruct students in single-engine aircraft.

CFII, or Certified Flight Instructor Instrument, is also available as an add-on to your CFI certification. It qualifies you to teach student pilots seeking certification and various endorsements, both on aeronautical knowledge and flight training. You will also be qualified to administer instrument proficiency examinations. The accelerated CFII course lasts 2-3 weeks, based on proficiency.
