Best Flight Training in Phoenix, AZ

The responsibility of becoming a pilot is heady. The rush and thrill of flight is not without risk, so you should seek the best flight training available, like that you’d receive at Sierra Charlie Aviation in Scottsdale, AZ.

Our location will figure predominately in your decision. Scottsdale is the number-one location in the world for flight training. If you’re confused as to why, consider the fact that we enjoy clear, sunny skies year-round. Our home is Scottsdale Airport (SDL), a tower-controlled airport, with many practice fields located in the area.

We’re also an approved Cessna Pilot Center (CPC), an honor earned through excellence and commitment to quality training. We use the Cessna developed curriculum, which we’re able to do because we’re a Part 61 flight school.

The Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 61 that governs our activities is much less strict than Part 141 guidance. Each regulation part leads to the same checkride standards and the same license, but Part 61 schools can deviate from the FAA curriculum that is mandated for Part 141 training programs.

Last year alone our Scottsdale, AZ location accounted for creating 217 pilots. With that our first-time pass percentage was a whopping 91%. While most schools only use 2-3 different DPE’s (Designated Pilot Examiners) Sierra Charlie was able to complete this 91% pass rate while using over 14+ DPE’s. The 7 day Multi-Engine Program alone accounted for 40/40 first-time passes in a 2020 Piper Seminole.

The Private Pilot Certificate and Beyond

With a private pilot’s license, you’ll be able to transport your family, friends, and associates. Without an instrument rating, you will be operating under visual flight rules (VFR). This qualifier demands that you fly only when the skies are clear, allowing you to visually steer clear of dangers.

Private pilots can’t get paid for flying. To do so, you’ll need a commercial pilot’s license, for which we offer a program.

Private pilots are also not allowed to fly when it’s foggy or through clouds. For this, you’ll need an instrument rating, another credential we offer a program to achieve.

As you train for your private pilot certificate, commercial pilot certificate, instrument rating, multi-engine rating, or Certified Flight Instructor I/II rating, you’ll be taught on the ground and in the sky as you prepare for the practical and/or knowledge measurements demanded by the FAA.

AOPA Award-Winning Flight Training

We pride ourselves on creating a strong sense of community where our pilots and instructors can work together to foster knowledge.  We value quality instruction both in the air and on the ground, focus on our customers’ needs and wants, and practice transparency about the flight training process.  We make sure our students know exactly what to expect when they start their flight training.  It is not always easy, but we want our students to continue forward and achieve their flying dreams of becoming pilots.
